Stay away from still people. Still? Yes, people who idle – sit still, and want you to sit with them. We all have people in our lives who drag us down. If you’re a woman in business (or a man for that matter), it’s time to take inventory.

Who’s in your circle of influence? Are YOU the most influential person in your circle? If the answer is yes, have fun staying stagnant. You may also want to reevaluate your ego.

You clearly love being the alpha, although if you can’t handle hanging with people just as strong or stronger than you are, chances are you’re a faux alpha.

But seriously – still hanging out with the same people? See how we used the word still? That’s what you need to get away from, especially if you want to excel in life and business. We’re not advising you to cut the chord with your childhood friend Susie or Sam. And we’re certainly not telling you to snip ties with your family.

BUT what we are saying is – take a serious look at that list of people you chill with. Chances are they are either hindering or helping you. Still confused about who should stay in you life?

Here are 7 people to stay away from in 2022

That means if they’re still in your life, it’s time to move on. And if you can’t completely cut them out, limit your exposure.

Still Complaining You know this person well. He/She just can’t shut up about how much their life sucks. By the time you’re done having a conversation with them, you think your life sucks too! In fact the only time you hear from them is when they have something to complain about. Tell them to shut the f* up and move on. Susie went through a break up again? Sorry, not sorry. Sam’s wife was a jerk again but he can’t stand up for himself again? Just stop. The food isn’t hot enough? Yeah, these people always have something to bitch about even when life is great. And there’s always something to be grateful for.

Still Hating Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time! One of the best videos of all time! – Kanye West Look, we love West – and he can hate all he wants. Dude’s net worth is $145 million. BUT chances are the hater you know is no Kanye. This person hasn’t made it yet and Lord knows they are ‘trying’ but all they can do is hate on people more successful than them. If Sue’s middle name is hater, it’s time to drop her.

Still Losing It’s sad. Sam just can’t seem to catch a break no matter how much advise he asks from you. And he doesn’t know why he keeps losing even though you’ve told him time and time again – it takes action, not just talk to get somewhere in life. In fact all this losing, is making you lose. Want to win? Cut the losers out of your life.

Still Broke Listen up! If you have lofty financial goals, you can NOT be hanging around broke people – not all the time anyway. Your friend Sue from high school is really sweet, we know, but she’s still making minimum wage 25 years later. You can still love her, hang out with her (here and there) but don’t make Sue a focal point in your life. In fact, if you have five Sue’s in your life – your bank account probably sucks. How do we know this? Poor mindset begets poor mindset. You become the five people you hang out with the most, and your paycheck is tagging along. Want to be wealthy? Hang with them rich folks. That’s probably not a popular piece of advice, but if you’re an entrepreneur – you shouldn’t care what people think and if you care too much about what others think of you, good luck …you may not be cut out for business honey. And if this honey wants to make some money, cut the broke bitches out of your life.

Still not Making a Change This year, I am going to _______
And Sam never gets around to it. He talks about doing it, and he really wants to but he just can’t seem to make a change – a decade later. There’s only so much you can do to help people before your grow tired of trying so hard to help. If Sam is exhausting you, you know what to do…

Still Living in the Past When I was ________
We get it Sue! In your former life, you were some fabulous special person with a ton of accomplishments and even though you’ve really done nothing since that one shining moment 8 years ago, you’re still reliving it over and over again. We’re tired of hearing about it. Stop living in the past. And then there’s Sam. Something terrible happened to him about 20 years ago. I mean it was really awful. We’d be amazed by his perseverance and resiliency, except Sam can’t let it go. His past haunts him; his past shortcomings have become his every day narrative. If you have people in your life who are still living in the past, run like hell. Because it is literally HELL to stay somewhere that no longer exists.

Still Making Excuses
Sue: I can’t.
You: Why?
Sue: Because I don’t have enough time.
Five years later, Sue is still making up the same tired old b.s. excuse. Isn’t it draining?
We’ll end on an age old phrase that is so cliche it will make you want to cringe, but seriously – excuses are like buttholes. We all have one.

And with that, if you have any of these buttholes in your life – time to patch up the leaks and move on.

Disclaimer: Sue and Sam are fictitious characters created for the purpose and humor of this article. If your name is Sue or Sam, we’re hoping you didn’t land in any of the ‘still’ categories. If you’re still any of these things, you may want to consider changing your name all together. But seriously, you know we’re kidding right? Sue and Sam are great people. And if you’re offended, you’re probably one of those buttholes people don’t want to be around.

This is too awesome! What’s the one thing they all have in common? STILL. Still does not imply change. They’re stuck. Stay away from stuck people! 😉
